“For Canada” is not a complete specification
A country name does not tell a supplier exactly how the stone will be used. Record the province, city, location on the building and whether each component is above grade, near the ground or part of the landscape. The project team can then identify the exposure conditions that should guide the review.
Keep facade panels, entrance steps and wall caps separate in the schedule. They may share a material palette while experiencing different conditions. Describing all of them as “exterior limestone” removes information that matters to selection and detailing.
Ask the design team to define the evaluation
Where moisture and repeated freezing are relevant, ask what material evidence and review the project requires. Request documentation for the actual selection being proposed. Do not treat a supplier’s general description of limestone as confirmation that every source performs identically.
Material evidence is one part of the decision. The proposed wall assembly also needs its support, drainage, joints and attachments coordinated by the responsible professionals. Identifying these requirements early helps the supply discussion focus on the correct material and fabrication scope.
Show the water-related details
Provide sections at the wall base, openings and horizontal stone features. Ask the design team to resolve how water is managed through these conditions. Sills, caps and projections should have clearly drawn profiles, interfaces and joint intentions.
Do not leave the fabrication team to infer a critical profile from a perspective rendering. A dimensioned section identifies the geometry to produce. The installer and designer still need to coordinate it with the layers and components behind the stone.
Make procurement follow the review
State the required samples, documentation and approvals in the quotation brief. Identify who will review them and when production may proceed. Include the controlling dimensions, destination and handling considerations so material approval and logistics are planned together.
This site represents sourcing from Turkey rather than Canadian warehouse stock. Ask for the production and delivery scope for the proposed order. Start with the Canada project guide, then share the material and assembly questions your design team has identified.
