Classical language, project proportions
Doric, Ionic, Corinthian and Tuscan designs are included in the architectural product range. A style reference communicates the direction; dimensions and profile drawings establish what must actually be produced. Resolve the capital width and projection in relation to the shaft and the elevation.
Specify the ornament
Provide photographs or sketches for the visual idea, then dimension the profile, volutes or ornamental zones that matter to the design. Agree which surfaces are exposed, how repeated pieces should match and whether a sample carving or mock-up is required before the full order.
Coordinate the adjoining pieces
Show the top and bottom bearing interfaces and the fixing intentions. Capitals used decoratively and capitals in a structural system should not be treated as interchangeable. Include the engineer’s requirements when the stone is part of a load-bearing concept.
Questions for your project
Can a classical style be adapted?
Custom architectural production can be reviewed from your drawings. Identify which classical features should be retained and which dimensions or ornament should change.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Provide the project location, dimensioned drawings, material and finish preferences, quantities and delivery destination. Identify the approvals and any installation scope required.
